Nievera: We will never forget Saipan
“We will never forget Saipan,” Filipino singer Martin Nievera told a large crowd made up of sponsors and organizers during a special luncheon held at the Hibiscus Hall of the Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach last Monday.
Nievera, together with his other crew members, graced the special luncheon held a day after Manila’s concert king wowed an audience of over 3,000 in “A Night to Remember with Martin Nievera” held at the Hopwood Junior High School Amphitheater.
Monday’s event was organized by Northern Marianas College Foundation president Jerry Tan and was meant as a big “thank you” to the sponsors of the concert.
Tan began the luncheon by jokingly apologizing to Nievera for calling him the “Megastar” in introductions he made during Sunday’s concert. “Megastar” is the moniker of Sharon Cuneta, another celebrity from the Philippines.
“Hey, I’m from Hong Kong,” Tan quipped.
He thanked Nievera and his production outfit for a wonderful show. He also extended his sincere gratitude to the warm support the sponsors gave to the event, which is being dubbed as Saipan’s concert event of the year.
Nievera accepted the invitation by emcee Teri Flores to speak on stage. He said he was amazed by the dedication of the audience despite the heavy rain at the end of the show. He said he was deeply touched by the crowd’s support.
“The rain was a blessing from up there,” he said.
He said he would gladly sign on for a comeback concert in the future. Nievera said he is hoping his concert would serve as a start of many great shows in the Commonwealth. He said his production outfit, Bigmouth, is very thankful for the hospitality shown them.
Sponsors present during the luncheon were officers and staff from major sponsors Pepsi, Tan Holdings Foundation, and Continental Airlines.
