Woman impressed with police
Despite being victimized by burglars, Agnes McGrath, a business executive, found her experience as proof that police are ready and able to respond to criminal incidents and solve those cases.
McGrath narrated that she went to Marpi with a group of friends to run about a month ago. She said she parked her car near the Last Command Post.
When she came back, McGrath said she discovered that her car had been burglarized, with unidentified burglars taking her purse containing important identification cards.
“I was devastated,” said McGrath. But she went on to report the incident to police.
McGrath said no one was at the police station in Garapan when she went there to report the incident, apparently due to the Department of Public Safety’s manpower problem. But she said police responded immediately after she dialed 911.
“The policeman who came was very sympathetic. [Police] were so helpful with follow up phone calls, advice, etc., and best of all, they found my purse in the bush the next day and all of my ID’s,” she said.
“I was blown away by the service and the thoughtfulness. I thought that I should mention it. It’s so seldom that you hear good things about the police but they really went all out there,” she added.
McGrath said the Crime Stoppers announced the theft incident, seeking help from potential witnesses to provide information to police.
