David out, Sheu in as DPS PIO
Police Sgt. Catherine Unpingco Sheu has taken over as the Department of Public Safety’s public information officer after Police Officer II Eric David stepped down from the post “to focus on his other assignments.”
DPS Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela gave Sheu her new assignment effective Sunday, in addition to her current assignment under the Director of Police.
Sheu said during a media briefing yesterday that she is taking over the position because David has opted to focus his attention on his other assignments.
She said David’s current assignments include being the Crime Stopper coordinator, DPS representative and board member on the Sexually Violent Predator or SVP Program, DPS point of contact for the Sex Offender Registration Program, and Energy Conservation point person.
David would remain, however, as the alternate PIO whenever Sheu is unavailable.
Sheu said she has been with the DPS for several years and has worked with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, the Office of Grants, and Special Programs as the Officer-in-Charge of the Community-Oriented Policing Section.
