The public is invited today to attend a celebration of the 2005 Coral Reef Initiative summer internship program. From 9:30am to 11:30am, the interns will present the work they have done this summer at the Division of Environmental Quality office in Gualo Rai. The goal of the internship is to provide postsecondary students with hands-on experience working in the natural resources agencies: DEQ and the Coastal Resources Management Office.

James Arriola, Carlo Calibo, Roxanna Arriola, and Janice Anne Castro worked at the CRM office at the Permit, Enforcement, and Outreach and Education divisions respectively. At DEQ, Sherrianne Songsong, Francisco Villa-gomez, and Lorraine Catienza worked with the Biosearch, Biology, and Non-point Source Pollution departments respectively.

The internship program occurs yearly and is open to high school graduates and college students. For more information, contact coral outreach specialist Qamar Schuyler at 664-8300. (PR)
