The CNMI Junior League All-Stars met with some stiff resistance when they took their fifth consecutive Asia-Pacific League Regional Champions title to Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan this past week. Though they suffered three losses in their first three games, the Saipan squad made great strides toward bring the first World Series title to the region by playing the top teams closely.

Despite their best efforts, the local team fell short in the final inning against the undefeated Puerto Rican powerhouse and the strong Canadian team.

While the hardballers were playing overseas, a group of kids from Japan did the same to take part in “A Peppy Vacation in Saipan 2005” at the Oleai Sports Complex. The 200 kids from Japan and Saipan competed in a number of events, but they had more fun making friends than earning points.

Earning points was not a problem for Team Fokai, as the masters of mini-archery extended their undefeated streak with a flurry of well-placed darts to pick up their fourth straight win at Godfather’s on Thursday night.
