Nabi posts one car accident
Typhoon Nabi did not leave the island without first causing a vehicular accident—a collision between a sports utility vehicle and a delivery van.
A moss green Ford 150 SUV pickup truck with a plate number ADM 791 collided with a delivery truck with a plate number ABW 704 along the Navy Hill Road intersecting Puerto Rico on Middle Road. Drivers of both vehicles were not identified.
The accident happened around 9:20pm Wednesday night, based on unofficial reports. Sunshine Laundry Services Company owns the delivery truck.
Despite the scarcity of vehicles on the road that night due to the typhoon, the two vehicles failed to avoid the head on collision. There were no traffic lights that night due to an islandwide power outage.
The police responded to the scene of the accident and an ambulance immediately came to the rescue.
Family members of the pick-up driver immediately went to the accident area and tried to find out what happened. They said nobody suffered major injury from the collision. The unidentified driver of the Ford pickup truck complained of a headache and was immediately brought to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment and further observation.
The driver of the van did not suffer any injury. However, according to one of the staff of the laundry service company, he was brought to jail after he resisted signing the ticket that was being issued him by the police.
An official report on the incident from the Department of Public Safety will follow.
