Lawmen have arrested a woman who has allegedly been operating an illegal day care center without the requisite business and immigration documents.

Analiza L. Polic Ew faces possible deportation, after the Attorney General’s Office petitioned the Superior Court for an order compelling her to explain why she should not be deported from the CNMI.

Polic Ew, who used to work as a commercial cleaner, allegedly engaged in babysitting after her work permit expired in December 1998—almost seven years ago.

Operatives arrested Polic Ew Friday pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Associate Judge David Wiseman.

Immigration’s Major John Taitano said his office learned about Polic Ew’s alleged illegal activity after receiving a tip from an informant, who said the woman was babysitting about five children in an As Lito barracks without lawful immigration status.

Taitano told the court that Polic Ew operates an illegal day care center at the staff housing where a hotel employee accommodates her.

Investigation conducted by Taitano showed that Polic Ew’s former employer, R.S.M. Corp., did not renew her employment after it expired in December 1998.

To date, Taitano said Polic Ew does not have any pending employment or consensual transfer application with the Department of Labor, nor does the worker have any pending labor complaint.

Taitano also said that Polic Ew did not register for limited immunity during the period allowed by law.

He said the worker has been eluding authorities since her work permit expired nearly seven years ago.

Assistant attorney general Ian Catlett filed the deportation petition against Polic Ew in court. Judge Wiseman initially set the bail amount at $1,000.
