Rota’s JROTC donates sports equipment, supplies

The Rota High School’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program recently donated sports equipment and office supplies to the Eskuelan San Francisco De Borja after hearing that there was a need for such equipment at the only Catholic school on Rota.
The donation was made possible through Pacific Regional Training Institute supervisor and mentor Officer Edward Maratita Jr., who approached Sgt. Maj. Atalig for a possible donation of sports equipment to ESFDB.
Atalig rose to the challenged and generously donated the sports equipment to the school. To make the moment memorable, Atalig brought two ESFDB alumni, cadet Sergeants Charlene Manglona and Sherlyn Villanueva.
The two alumni handed the sports equipment and office supplies to their former principal, Sr. Mary Ascension Zambra, O.P., with the assistance of their JROTC instructor. Sr. Ascension thanked the JROTC program for its donation and hope for their continued support.
Maratita is tasked to handle the Pacific region area trainings, including promoting a community-wide substance abuse and sports athletic programs. He has been actively involved in the agenda of ESFDB, the Saint Francis School (Hawaii), and Saint Patrick School (Hawaii) in school year 2005-2006.
Furthermore, Maratita has been soliciting assistance from the different branch of the Armed Forces and business communities in helping the only Catholic school in Rota and its substance abuse and sports athletic programs.
Maratita has yet to decide if he will leave Eskuelan San Francisco De Borja to assist long-time friend Paul Tanaka in coaching the Saint Francis Troubadours basketball program or take the head coaching job at Mililani High school. (PR)
