An early evening swim in the waters off Micro Beach cost a man his bag when an unidentified boy ran away with his belongings when he left them unattended Thursday.

The victim, a 36-year-old male who was unnamed by the Department of Public Safety, said he just placed his bag on the sand as he went swimming before 6pm. When he went out of the water and just as he was about to return to where his bag was, he saw the boy pick up the bag and run away from him.

DPS spokeswoman Catherine Sheu said the boy ran off toward the east where a red car was waiting for him. The boy hopped into the car and immediately the car sped away from the victim who was trying to make chase.

The victim told the police that the items inside the bag included a black and white pouch valued at about $60, a black wallet valued at $10 which contained $150 cash, a Visa credit card, a driver’s license, a $20 T-shirt, and a silver Canon digital camera valued at around $300.
