Covenant Party gears up for final campaign salvo
Following its Rota motorcade and political rally that drew an estimated thousand people, the Covenant Party is gearing up for its final campaign salvo on Saipan this weekend, optimistic that their efforts would translate into votes in next Saturday’s elections.
The Covenant Party is inviting supporters, voters and the general public to join their political campaigns on Saipan this weekend, expecting a bigger turnout of supporters on the more populated island.
Last Saturday, Covenant’s Rota mayoralty candidate Joseph Songao Inos claimed that about 248 out of the island’s 400 registered vehicles joined the party’s motorcade, and that about 60 percent of the island’s 1,500 registered voters attended the political rally.
Today, Covenant Party candidates led by its gubernatorial tandem, House Speaker Benigno Fitial and Vice Speaker Timothy Villagomez, will conduct an islandwide motorcade on Saipan.
Covenant advertising committee chair Charles Reyes Jr. said the meeting place for participants in the motorcade would be at the Civic Center’s tennis court at about 9am. Reyes said the motorcade would begin at around 10am.
On Sunday, at the Civic Center’s tennis court, the candidates will speak about their platform of government and their plan to address the CNMI’s ailing economy in their final political rally, an event also anticipated to be festive with live band, food and refreshments.
