Charles Cepeda is Chamber’s new president

Pacific Trading Company general manager Charles V. Cepeda is the new president of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce.

Cepeda was elected by his peers during yesterday’s SCC general meeting held at the Saipan World Resort.

Cepeda grew up on Saipan exposed to the family business, M.S. Villagomez Enterprises. He graduated from Marianas High School and moved to Hayward, California where he attended Chabot Community College.

He came back to Saipan in 1993 and worked for J.C. Tenorio Enterprises as a buyer/manager for Athlete’s Foot and Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis. In 1996, he joined PTC, where he is currently the general manager.

Cepeda has been a member of the Chamber since 2001. He served as a board member and chairman of its events committee for the past two years.

“I look forward to working closely with members and the community. I’m thankful for the members’ trust and confidence [in me],” said Cepeda.

Cepeda was nominated and ran unopposed for the post.

Meantime, elected yesterday as vice president is Cepeda’s predecessor, Alex Sablan. Sablan had served as president for two terms.

Others elected were Triple J Enterprises manager Jay Jones as secretary and Michael Johnson of Deloittee &Touche as treasurer.

Two board members, Kathryn Barry and Juan T. Guerrero, were elected to the board of directors. They will serve for two years.

They joined incumbent directors David Sablan of Century Insurance, Harry Blalock of KCNM/KZMI, and Jim Arenovski of Delta Management.
