Consumers reminded to monitor water flow
As the Water Task Force continues to pressurize certain areas on Saipan, residents and businesses are reminded to pay attention to their water catchment, valves and tanks to ensure unnecessary water loss.
“Because the system has for so many years never received acceptable pressure levels, there may be some weak water pipes that are not really apparent to homeowners until such time that the pressure increases. They will notice that some of the pipes will be leaking so please fix them and avoid unnecessary payment for water loss,” said program manager Don Smith.
The Water Task Force continues to identify additional source of water in order to reach its goal of pressurizing the entire island. Additional wells have been drilled and brought on line like the Agag Well. The well-field optimization of the Agag Well is almost complete and would provide significant amount of additional quality water going to Garapan, Navy Hill and the surrounding areas.
Longer water hours due to increased pressurization have been reported in Upper/Lower Navy Hill, Chinatown, Upper MIHA Housing and Garapan.
The Water Task Force also hopes to bring five more wells in As Matuis/Marpi area on line by the end of the year.
“With Agag, Marpi and Obyan wells, the community should receive 1.5 million gallon per day of additional water from these sources,” Smith added. (PR)
