Police and Customs officers arrested a woman who was allegedly selling methamphetamine or “ice” at her motel room in San Jose.
Chen Yan alias Amy, 31, was detained for illegal possession of a controlled substance and trafficking of a controlled substance.
During a hearing on Wednesday, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja ordered that the bail should remain at $30,000 cash.
Naraja set the preliminary hearing for Dec. 1, 2005.
According to police in court papers, a confidential source of the Department of Public Safety’s Special Investigation Section was able to purchase “ice” from Chen at her bedroom at San Jose Motel on Monday night.
The defendant allegedly took two napkins from a shoebox and handed them to the confidential source.
The napkins contained two clear zip-lock bags containing “ice,” police said.
The officers accompanied by agents from the Division of Customs Investigation Unit then raided Chen’s room at 7:10pm on the same day pursuant to a search warrant issued by Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo.
Police said they recovered from the room the $600 marked money that was used by the confidential source in the controlled buy operation.
