Friday night was truly a festive one for the islands’ tourism and hospitality industry, as the CNMI welcomed the transformation of Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach into Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

The grand opening of Fiesta Resort & Spa gathered business and community leaders who expressed their congratulations and their support to the hotel’s management and owners for embarking on the bold transformation.

Fiesta Resort & Spa general manager Jackson Yang welcomed and thanked guests for witnessing the event he considers “the event of the year in the CNMI’s hospitality industry.”

Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela was also on hand and provided a brief congratulatory speech for Fiesta Resort & Spa’s management and staff.

Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands chairwoman Lynn Knight in her speech said she is quite pleased with the hotel’s considerable transformation. She also extended a challenge to other hotels in the CNMI to follow Fiesta Resort & Spa’s lead and make the CNMI a better place to visit and live in.

Outgoing Saipan Chamber of Commerce president Alex Sablan also congratulated Yang for a “job well done” in enhancing Saipan as a premier tourist destination in the Pacific.

Marianas Visitors Authority chair Dave Sablan also gave a congratulatory speech for the hotel.

The Saipan Chinese Association Dance Troupe performed the traditional Dragon Dance and a face master performer from Shanghai China led the symbolic “Change of Face” dance.

Tan Holdings Corp. president Jerry Tan led the ribbon cutting ceremony and also presided on the lighting ceremony for the giant Christmas tree at the hotel’s lobby.
