$500 still on the table for local musicians
There’s still a heap of cash waiting for local songwriters as organizers of the longest running triathlon in the Marianas Islands are still looking to award some lucky musicians with a bucket of ducats during the ongoing Tagaman Songwriting Contest.
No matter who takes the cake and who plays second fiddle, more than $850 is up for grabs as the creators of the winning entry will take home $500, while the first runners-up will bag $250, and the second runners-up win $100 for providing the song that will be featured in radio and television ads, the race website (www.tagaman.com), and played several times during the 2006 Saipan Sports Fest.
The contest is open to everyone and contestants are advised that entries are to be no longer than three minutes long, should have a repeating chorus, and a catchy tune. Submissions will also be evaluated based on their originality.
The deadline to submit your entry for the Tagaman Songwriting Contest is closing fast as there is little more than a week remaining to turn in your tune. All submissions should be made at the Marianas Visitors Authority office in San Jose no later than Friday, Dec. 23, at 5pm.
All submissions become property of Taga Inc., but contestants interested in receiving their entries after the judging must include a self addressed stamped envelope or come down to the MVA to pick it up.
