Inauguration ceremony photo-journal out soon
Those who missed the chance to personally witness the inauguration of Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and other newly elected officials of the CNMI earlier this week will soon have the chance to relive the historic event through a supplementary coffee table book to be out soon.
Maureen N. Maratita, publisher of Glimpses Publications, which include Guam Business, Marianas Business Journal, R&R Pacific, Beach Road magazine, and Marine Drive magazine, said the publishing house is currently gathering photographs of the event and binding them for a book.
Maratita said the book would be a photo-journal with a narration of the events that took place before, during and after the inauguration itself. Photographs will include those that were taken during the golf tournament last weekend.
For the inauguration itself, the book with feature glossy photos taken by photojournalist P.J. Borja of Guam.
“Our Glimpses staff have also been covering the event,” she said, adding that the photos taken by her staff would also be considered for publication in the book.
She said her company is grateful for being chosen to publish the book that would show the “behind the scenes” and snapshots that surrounded this year’s inauguration.
Maratita hope that the supplement would provide the CNMI community special memories about the event.
The “perfect-bound” book would contain at least 48 glossy pages of photos captured during the ceremony and other events related to the preparation and the inauguration ceremony itself, said Maratita. The release of the book is still indefinite.
Maratita was formerly the managing editor of the Journal and editor of Guam Business. A veteran journalist, she has written for a variety of news agencies ranging from newswires such as Reuters to regional publications such as the Pacific Daily News, where her opinion editorials were published in the late ‘90s.
