NMC continues talks to maintain its accreditation
Northern Marianas College will continue its dialogue with the NMC Board of Regents, administrators, faculty and staff, and students to ensure it would keep its accreditation.
NMC president Tony Y. Deleon Guerrero said the college would continue to work hard in addressing the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation standards and to ensure the reaffirmation of NMC throughout 2006.
Deleon Guerrero said the college’s accreditation self-study process will continue because the process intends to guide the institution in reviewing and assessing all of its college operations, programs, and services.
“For our self-study process to be effective, we need college-wide engagement and dialogue from our NMC Board of Regents, administrators, faculty, staff, and students,” he said, adding that through this institution-wide dialogue and participation, the college’s self-evaluation process would ensure that its internal and external NMC stakeholders would gain a comprehensive understanding and perspective of the institution.
Deleon Guerrero said collectively the WASC accreditation standards, which are presented in four parts, are designed to work together in creating the college-wide dialogue by analyzing what and how the institution is doing and determining effective strategies for institutional improvement.
He added that concerned individuals’ could support and participate in the college’s accreditation self-study process by contributing inputs and suggestions.
