The 27th season of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association kicked off with three of the seven leagues rumbling into action in various venues Monday night.

A total of 49 teams will duke it out for supremacy this season in SEDA’s seven leagues—Masters, Tuesday B League, Thursday B League, C League, and the three that played Monday night, Volcano A League, Rainbow A League, and Ladies League.

SEDA secretary Vivien P. Elloraza welcomed the return of SEDA and wished all teams in the seven leagues good luck for the 27th season, also dubbed the Winter/Spring 2006 season.

“Welcome to SEDA’s 27th season. I would like to thank you for your participation this season and I hope that we can work together to make this season a better one,” she said.

Elloraza also enumerated a number of rule changes for the season. For instance, she said C and Ladies League would be handicapped this season. Elloraza also said the Masters League will revert to the 15-game format and four-player lineup so that all players can participate this season, but all Masters teams could still carry a maximum of eight players instead of the previous six.

She also said that due to time constraints, teams playing in the 10-squad strong Thursday B League would not have the opportunity to play each team twice. “The normal 18-week season has now been reduced to 15 weeks and the pairings would be determined by random drawing,” she said.

The 27th season of SEDA would conclude with an awards banquet set for June 11 at Charley’s Cabaret at the Pacific Islands Club. For more information about SEDA, call Elloraza at 233-4397 or e-mail her at darts@saipangames.com. (Mark Rabago)
