Pepsi commits another year
The King and Queen of the Lanes will continue in 2006 as Pacific Trading Co. general manager Charles Cepeda confirmed that Pepsi will sponsor the monthly and season-ending tournaments once again.
“We are here for 2006. Pepsi will continue to sponsor,” Cepeda told the crowd during Sunday’s SBA King and Queen of the Lanes awards banquet at Club V at Saipan Grand Hotel.
“Thank you all for continuing to increase the popularity of bowling here in the CNMI and I also want to thank Ross [Zapanta] for all his persistence every month…I appreciate your patience,” Cepeda said in his reference to Zapanta’s continuous push for funds that will shoulder the monthly tournaments.
Not only will PTC continue sponsorship of the tournaments, SBA president Jerry Tan also disclosed that all players in tournaments would receive complimentary drinks—Pepsi products—courtesy of the beverage distributor.
Zapanta also led all SBA members and players in recognizing Pepsi’s contribution to the non-profit association, disclosing that Pepsi contributed about $6,000 in 2005.
SBA concluded its 2005 season on Sunday, with Richard Leong reigning as 2005 King of the Lanes and Diana Camacho as 2005 Queen of the Lanes. (Shan Seman)
