Chamber meeting on Feb. 1
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its first 2006 General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Aqua Resort Club Raraina Room. The buffet luncheon and registration start at 11:30am. Cost of the luncheon and speaker is $ 15.
At a meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Interior David Cohen, he asserted that the CNMI has to be “bullet-proof” on labor issues, to assure that everything is being done to prevent human rights violations. In response to this, the Chamber’s first guest speaker in 2006 will be Federal Ombudsman Jim Benedetto with the U.S. Department of the Interior. Benedetto will speak about labor issues in the CNMI.
Benedetto received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Puget Sound. He received his law degree in 1990 from the University of Washington. Benedetto has been in the CNMI for six and a half years, three of those with the Office of the Attorney General and the last three and a half as Federal Ombudsman.
The General Membership Meetings are open to the public. All are invited to attend this important presentation. (PR)
