PTI holds successful street party

Free T-shirts, hats, and calendars poured to the delight of hundreds of people who attended the Pacific Telecom Inc.’s grand launch party Thursday at Street Market in Garapan.

Local residents and tourists alike found themselves enjoying PTI’s public party, which began at 5pm to about 9pm.

Both children and adults willingly sat on the road—right at the foot of the PTI stage—to watch PTI’s performer clown who didn’t fail to amaze them with his exciting magical moves.

They also got to watch Chinese dragon performers up close.

PTI’s spectacular firecrackers display thrilled the crowd, making them cheer and asked for more of it.

The Big Beats Band also belted out popular songs to the enjoyment of the crowd toward the end of the event.

Aside from free entertainment, PTI also set up booths to allow customers to avail themselves of great deals on its products.

PTI introduced its new product, web accelerator, which makes dial-up connection six times faster.

People who signed up for DSL broadband for a year were also given a three-month free subscription and a waived proceesing fee.

Long distance call cards were sold at 15-percent off the regular price.

Prepaid cell phones were likewise sold at an affordable rate of $50 each.

PTI took over Verizon Micronesia on Sept. 21, 2005 at an estimated amount of $60 million.

PTI spokesperson Carlene Tenorio said the public party was PTI’s way of recognizing the local community (Liberty Dones).
