The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs had their three-game win streak snapped Thursday night in the ongoing 2006 Inter-Government Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The DCCA cagers met their match as towers Richard “Doc” Brostrom and Tony Raho combined for 50 points to lead the Commonwealth Health Center to a 102-98 victory.

The two teams were neck and neck throughout the first half, with Raho getting off to a strong start and knocking in 12 points in the opening period to help CHC take a 26-25 lead, and Elias Rangamar drilling 15 points in the second period to swing favor to DCCA at the break, 54-50.

DCCA was able to hold on to the lead in the third with Rangamar and Joey Dela Cruz carrying the team on their shoulders, 76-74. DCCA, however, was not able to maintain their hold as Brostrom hit a couple of triples and had 10 points in the last 10 minutes to fuel a charge that resulted in CHC leveling their win-loss card at 2-2.

Brostrom and Raho finished with 29 and 21 points, while Tom Diaz, Ken Kalen, and Frank Iglecias scored 12 points or more.

Rangamar led all scorers with 45 points, while Dela Cruz and Romeo Iginoef punched in 25 and 17 points.

Earlier, Jerome Reyes and Jawn Joyner took care of business for the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Fire Dawgs to help their team beat the Department of Public Works, 72-48.

Reyes and Joyner continued their solid play in the league and finished with 28 and 27 points for ARFF.
