Another prosecutor quits, 1 more set to leave
Another prosecutor has left the Attorney General’s Office, while another is set to move out, the Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.
Sources at the AGO disclosed that Will Bierman resigned as assistant attorney general at the AGO’s Criminal Division effective Tuesday.
An AGO staff confirmed the resignation of Bierman.
Sources said Bierman may transfer to Guam, where then Chief Prosecutor Jeffrey Moots, who recently quit his post, is now working.
Bierman began work at AGO in July 2005. He did not complete his term. Before joining AGO, Bierman worked for the Public Defender’s Office starting in 2004.
A source said Bierman was disappointed with the “politics” affecting the AGO.
The same source said assistant attorney general Ian Catlett, who is in charge of immigration matters, is also expected to step down soon.
The Saipan Tribune tried to reach Chief Prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr. for comments yesterday afternoon, but a staff at the AGO said he was in a meeting and not available until today.
Aside from Moots, the other government lawyers who quit over the past few weeks were then Deputy Attorney General Clyde Lemons Jr. and assistant attorney general James Livingstone.
