UP ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEETING ON SATURDAY
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association-CNMI Chapter will have a meeting on Saturday, March 11, at 6pm at OWWA center, Nauru Building.
Convening the meeting is UPAA president Janet Villagomez.
“I’m excited to meet with everyone. Let’s all come, hear from each other, and see how we can be of more service to others,” said Villagomez.
UPAA is on its second year in the CNMI.
During its first year, the group successfully raised funds for the construction of two new classrooms for Calamba High School in Laguna, Philippines. The project was done in partnership with another Filipino group, MAFILWA.
This was made in response to the Philippine government’s call for overseas Filipino workers to help build about 10,000 classrooms to address the country’s critical shortages in many public elementary and secondary schools.
Besides taking active participation in various Filipino community activities in the islands, the UPAA also donated to various CNMI school activities, including the MathCount. (PR)
