While the top fast ballers will be selected based on their merits from the recent Men’s Island-Wide Fast-Pitch Softball League, the 6th Micronesian Games hopefuls searching to land a spot on the men’s slow-pitch team will have to sport their skills in this week’s tryout sessions.

According to Saipan Softball Association president Ray Palacios, all underhanded artists interested in representing the CNMI this summer need to bring their gear to Tan Ge Softball Field tomorrow night at 6pm for the first round of tryouts.

Palacios said that the who’s who of slow-pitch players are expected to be at the Oleai Sports Complex for tomorrow night’s workout, and will return for the following tryouts on Wednesday, March 15, and Thursday, March 16, at 6pm as well.

According to Palacios, the tryouts are a necessity since there hasn’t been a men’s slow-pitch league in session since last year, and that prospective team members should not rely on any exceptions when it comes to making the squad because only those who show will be eligible to play.

In addition to the Saipan tryouts this week, Palacios said that there will also be an opportunity for players in Tinian to show their stuff in the near future as the SSA will be sending its coaching staff to evaluate the talent across the channel.
