The Chalan Kanoa Kings played well on their home turf and easily downed the visiting San Antonio Sixers III, 56-27, Tuesday evening in the ongoing Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League.

The Kings played like kings of the court as they opened strong and dominated the first eight minutes of action with a 22-point explosion, while holding their opponents to 10 points.

Giving the Chalan Kanoa team solid production were Edward Salito and Ron Catap as the two combined for 20 points, with Salito drilling 12 markers and Catap adding eight points.

Sixers III were able to close the gap in the second quarter as the Kings cooled off and were held to just two baskets.

Nikko Sablan and Reinhold Ferrer each had four points to account for the entire San Antonio production to pull their team to within eight points, 18-26, at the break.

Unfortunately for San Antonio, the Kings came back to life in the third stanza and returned the favor by outscoring their opponents, 12-4, to regain their comfortable lead, 38-22.

Scott Blewett then blew up for 10 points in the final minutes to ensure a strong finish for the Kings.

Salito and Blewett led the Kings with 18 and 12 points, while Catap finished with 10 points.

Sablan led the Sixers III with 10 points.
