Local Avon representatives donated skin care, fragrance, jewelry, shower gels, toys, clothes and other gift items to Guma Esperanza, an organization that shelters victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Avon representatives turned items that were returns and unclaimed orders to donations that the women of the shelter can enjoy.

“The people of Saipan have long been loyal customers of Avon. It feels right to give back to the community and to help those in need,” said Leslie Rideout, district sales manager for Avon.

Guma Esperanza is the only shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Guma Esperanza provides free and confidential shelter services to victims and their children regardless of citizenship, ethnicity, or immigration status.

In 2005, Karidat expanded Guma Esperanza program services to include long-term shelter care and support to victims of human trafficking.
