Saints halt Sixers II, 38-27
The House of Manhoeben Saints outscored Sixers II in the second half and pulled away for a 38-27 win Tuesday in the continuation of the 2006 Inter-Village Basketball League Tuesday night at the Chalan Kanoa Basketball Court.
After the CTSI Logistics-backed team steamed ahead in the opening quarter, 15-6, courtesy of a seven-point explosion by league leading scorer Luizi Reyes, Sixers II retaliated and took control and were ahead at the break by a point, 20-19, thanks to the six points of Joe Taitano.
Coach Ray Duenas’ team, however, hit a dry spell in the third quarter, struggling for just a bucket, while allowing the Saints to score 10 points, as Chalan Kanoa led 29-22 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
Reyes continued his hot scoring in the game’s final eight minutes, unloading another six markers, as the Saints rolled to its third win in five games, which is the same record Sixers II now carry after the loss.
The 17 points of Reyes led the Saints, who also got 11 from Zack Tudela. Taitano was the highpoint man for Sixers II with 14.
