NMA reschedules All Schools, National Championships
Northern Marianas Athletics has rescheduled its CNMI National Championships and McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships.
According to NMA officials, the National Championships has been moved from April 29 to May 6, while the McDonald’s Championships is now scheduled for May 13 instead of May 6.
This after NMA learned that athletes from Tinian who have set their sights on competing might have trouble securing chaperones due to another function that will be ongoing the same day.
With the change, World Athletics Day, which is celebrated by all members of the IAAF around the world, will be celebrated in the NMI together with the National Championships.
Also, instead of beginning with the qualifiers for the All Schools Championships this Monday, NMA has decided to push back the qualifiers by a week. Qualifiers will be held Monday to Friday every week except on Holy Week.
Eight slots are available for each event, with one slot in the 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints reserved for Rota.
The athletics workshop, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, has also been moved back a week.
