Mt. Carmel expects 80-90 golfers for tournament
Organizers behind the Mt. Carmel School Golf Tournament set for this Saturday is expecting between 80 to 90 golfers to participate in the event to be held at the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
“We’re ready to go! Response has been good and we are really looking at between 80 and 90 players for this Saturday,” said one of the members of the organizing committee, Margaret Dela Cruz.
She added that the only Catholic school on Saipan has prepared a bevy of monetary and gift items for the top three winners of the Championship Flight, A Flight, B Flight, C Flight, Ladies Flight, and Seniors Flight.
“We will be providing cash prizes, which have yet to be determined by the organizing committee, as well as in-kind gifts for all the different categories,” Dela Cruz said.
Aside from prizes for the flight winners, a Yamaha 600c four-wheel off-road vehicle will be awarded to the lucky golfer that sinks a hole-in-one on the 13th hole. The hole-in-one prize, which is worth approximately $10,000, is sponsored by International Royal (BICS) out of Guam.
Those not fortunate enough to win on the greens and fairways can still come home winners, as Dela Cruz said they will be raffling off two airline tickets—one for the Philippines and one for Guam—courtesy of Mt. Carmel School during the awards banquet, which would be held immediately after the tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
Mt. Carmel School is asking participants to “donate” $100 to enter the tournament, which includes green and cart fees as well as cost for the prizes and the awards banquet.
Registration time for the tournament is set at 6:30am with tee off scheduled an hour later at 7:30am. The Mt. Carmel School Golf Tournament is sponsored by the Mt. Carmel School Board of Directors.
