Ochobu continues with strong play, leads Game 3
Second ranked Ochobu continues to put on a strong show in the 2006 World Organized Rocball High School League finals, and currently leads Game 3 of their best-of-five series against defending champion Mwaliyas.
After a heart-breaking loss in the second game of the series last Thursday—Ochobu led after each of the first three sets before falling apart in the final set—the team came back with a vengeance and flat out dominated the early stages of Game 3 yesterday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
Like a house on fire, Ochobu sizzled at the start of the match as Awes Kawes, Ramsey Sino, and David Tisa spearheaded a furious attack that was too much for Mwaliyas to handle.
Another hurdle for Mwaliyas was their slow start as the team had trouble executing and as a result, saw Ochobu run away with the first set for an easy 15-3 victory.
Mwaliyas put on a better performance in the second set with Darrel Roligat leading the way from the service line. However, the defending champions were not able to keep pace with their opponents as Ochobu continued with their solid play and doubled up the guys on the other side of the net, 16-8.
With the win, Ochobu held a comfortable 20-point lead after two sets, 31-11.
The third set already got underway but was halted as time expired and students had to return to class. Mwaliyas looked sharp in the set as the team is fighting back and leads 8-5.
Sino continues to impress as he already has eight points to lead Ochobu after connecting for an ace, a xunk, and two kees, while David and Anip Tisa each have two kees for four points apiece.
Roligat leads Mwaliyas with six points on a couple of aces and a kee.
Action resumes today at 11:30am.
As reported earlier, Ochobu won a hard-fought Game 1 that was decided on the second set of o-kon, while Mwaliyas came back to win Game 2 after trailing through three sets.
