The Northern Yankees had just enough juice to slip past the Ford Rangers in Saturday’s Saipan Major League marathon game at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

For the Rangers, it was defensive miscues that turned the tables against them as the Yankees scored two runs—including the winning run—courtesy of errors in the bottom of the 11th inning for a 15-14 victory.

Down by a run, 13-14, Sidney Camacho stepped up to the plate and drew a base on balls. Ben Jones then followed with a single, his only hit of the game that couldn’t have come at a better time as Camacho went on to score on a miscue, and another error enabled Jones to cross home plate for the victory.

It was a tough road for the Yankees after an explosive start.

Slugger Tony Camacho got the scoring spree started by knocking in Clifton Silil and Mel Sakisat on a single in the first inning that gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead.

After allowing the Rangers to score three runs in the second, the Yankees came storming back as Eric Lizama smacked a bases-clearing triple that scored Sakisat, Camacho, and John Reyes, highlighting a five-run explosion for a 6-4 lead.

The Yankees scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and led 13-6 at that point.

The Rangers, however, were far from giving up and came through in the clutch as J.P Sablan led off the ninth inning with a double, Jason Gay singled and drove in Sablan before scoring on an error, Fred Kaipat singled and John Reyes doubled, and Roy Celis came through to tie the score and force extra innings with a two-run double.

Both teams were held scoreless in the 10th, and the Rangers grabbed the upper hand when Gay was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kaipat, 14-13, setting the stage for the thrilling conclusion.

Camacho went 4-for-4 with two runs, five runs batted in, and a base on balls to lead the Yankees. Lizama also had two hits, a run, and three RBIs, Sakisat scored three runs, and Silil had a couple of hits and three runs.

Peter Tomokane led the Rangers with three hits, two runs, four RBIs, a double, and triple, while Celis went 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs. Kaipat went 4-for-5 with three runs.
