Woman lapses into coma
The Department of Public Safety is still looking for clues to determine how a woman ended in a coma hours after she and her friends were picked up along Beach Road Saturday night by two unidentified suspects.
The woman was found by a resident who was heading home and almost ran over another woman, identified as Xiu Hua Wang, who was running in the middle of the road in front of Coral Ocean Point.
A few feet down the road, the resident saw a woman lying on the side of the road who was immediately taken to CHC where she was admitted and currently in a state of coma.
The woman sustained head injuries, internal bleeding on her head and blood was reportedly coming out of her ears. She had scratches on her body.
DPS has not identified the woman because of her condition and information provided by Xiu was very limited because she was being hysterical when questioned by the authorities.
Preliminary reports showed that the three women were hitching a ride along Beach Road when they were picked up by an old model gray-colored pick up truck.
Xiu boarded the truck while the two others seated at the bed of the truck.
According to Xiu, when they reached UIC garments in San Antonio, she told the operator to stop but he kept going until she was dropped somewhere in Koblerville.
When she alighted from the vehicle, the two women were no longer at the bed of the truck.
The third victim was seen walking along Beach Road in San Antonio.
DPS is investigating the case and asking the public who may have witnessed the incident to call for any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
According to Xiu, aside from the operator, a woman was inside the truck when she got in.
