Superior Court Judge Edward Manibusan has set a $5,000 cash bail for 22-year-old Darrell Muna Quitugua, first offender for 1999.

Quitugua appeared in court yesterday where a three-count information was filed by Assistant Attorney General Ramona V. Manglona.

He was arrested on New Year’s Day.

Quitugua was charged with attempted robbery, attempted theft and assault and battery.

Court documents showed that on Dec. 30, 1998, Quitugua attempted to take the property of Koresco Co. by use of force and violence. He also assaulted another individual, identified as Zhe Wu Hong.

In yesterday’s bail hearing, the court appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Quitugua in all future proceedings.

Quitugua has been remanded to the custody of the Division of Corrections and is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
