Close to 500 students from different schools are scheduled to be transferred to DanDan Elementary School next month.

While transfer plans are made, it is not certain yet if the current funding of the Public School System will allow recruitment for this new school scheduled to be completed in February.

“PSS is looking at its existing resources, like how the central office can help its administrative side. At this juncture, we are not in the position to certify bringing in new teachers,” said acting fiscal and budget officer William Matson.

There were 12 positions approved for DanDan in the fiscal budget, however, the payroll deficit makes recruitment difficult.

Key officials are suggesting the transfer of some teachers to DanDan, particularly those coming from the five schools which are sending students off.

Based on the survey made by five principals of schools from the south, San Vicente Elementary School will have the most number of students to be transfered in DanDan.

“Our yellow track is going there,” said its principal Martha Habberman, who counts some 150 students from kindergarten to the fifth grade. Her school remains in the multi-track system.

Next to San Vicente, the William S. Reyes school will send around 80 students, who all came from the DanDan area. Oleai, Koblerville and Garapan schools, are also scheduled to transfer a number of students. The DanDan school will have a total of 16 classrooms.
