In a showing of support for the tourism industry’s “1999 Visit the Marianas Year” campaign, GTE Pacifica has announced the arrival of their 1999 community calendar featuring the colorful logo of the campaign.

According to GTE’s General Manager David Rogers, the telecommunications company is also introducing a range of related promotional items for the new year, featuring nine plumeria blossoms (the CNMI’s official flower) floating on crystal blue water and the ’99 campaign logo.

“As a member of the community and the Marianas Visitors Authority, we would like to do anything we can to support the ’99 campaign and help spread awareness of ‘Visit the Marianas Year,”‘ said Rogers. “We traditionally use a lot of logo items in our marketing and we see this as an opportunity to do our part in promoting tourism.”

A celebration of all that makes the Marianas a wonderful place to visit, 1999 has been declared by Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio as “Visit the Marianas Year.” There are a wide variety of exciting activities planned throughout the year — from land and marine sports competitions to fiestas and ecotourism events.

MVA is encouraging its member businesses to spread the use of the campaign logo.

“GTE Pacifica’s efforts to promote the ’99 Visit the Marianas’ concept represents the essential partnership of the private sector and the government agencies which is vital to the promotion — more of the CNMI,” said Perry J. Tenorio, MVA Managing Director. “We are very appreciatiative that a business such as GTE will support our tourism industry and we hope that smaller businesses will also get involved.”

According to David Rogers, GTE is also working with Pacific Development, Inc., Hyatt Regency Saipan and other tourismrelated to spread the use of the logo through through telephone cards, calendars, hotel tent cards and other business promotions.

To receive a free copy of the calendar, customers and other members of the community are invited to visit GTE Pacifica’s offices next to the MTC Customer Service Center on Middle Road, Chalan Laulau.
