Skilled? You betcha’.

I’m not organized enough to have clipped the references, but one of the sneaky buzz-words I read in the U.S. media is about the CNMI’s “flood of unskilled foreign workers.”

Unskilled? What kind of stupid gibberish is that?

How about the contract workers who are doctors, airplane pilots, nurses, journalists, heavy equipment operators, graphic artists, accountants, computer fixers, plumbers, electricians, masons, and mechanics? All of these are skilled positions. What some folks seem to be saying if it’s a contract worker doing the job, then it’s unskilled, but if an American does it, it’s skilled.

Pretty obnoxious, eh?

It’s such an ocean of disinformation (a polite word for lies) I don’t know where to begin trying to drain it.

So let’s just take a few scoops out of it.

Airplane pilots, unskilled? Okay, true, they’re certainly not as cool as helicopter pilots, but I’d consider airplane pilots to be pretty skilled. To fly is heavenly, to hover, divine…but both take skill.

Doctors. Unskilled? Anybody who believes that needs a good neurosurgeon.

Nurses, likewise, unskilled? Where would we be without our guest workers who are nurses?

Aye, where next…how about accountants? I work with a Filipino accountant, Bob, and he’s certainly skilled. General ledger, financial statements, tracking payables and receivables, filing zillion of tax forms with the government…it not only takes skill, it takes patience and attention to detail. And trustworthiness, too, because there’s money involved. According to a lot of American hypocrites, though, Bob isn’t skilled because he’s a contract worker. What a perfectly enlightened outlook.

When you boil it right down to things, the most racist agenda in the United States is that of the liberal (also known as “mainstream”) media. They are the ones calling for racial quotas in the mainland, government enforced discrimination against certain segments of the population, and making the sneaky smears and lies about the state of the our work force. The liberals never want a color-blind society, they, like all elitists, have a secret hierarchy in mind. They, like all elitists, will enlist the aid of the naive and the stupid so they can have enough dead weight rolling behind their agenda.

And when it comes to naivety, there’s plenty of it to go around on all sides. Americans don’t understand the CNMI because they don’t have access to the true facts. There’s blame to be had here, though, when so many people are willingly dependent on so many government programs, and think that the free and easy money will always be flowing. True, Saudi Arabia gets away with that, but Saudi Arabia has oil, which is an intrinsically valuable commodity. If you think sand and sunshine is intrinsically valuable, then you’ve got to explain to me why much of the tropical Pacific lives in poverty.

But poverty is an issue we can uncork later. For now, it’s enough to look at today’s truth, and to realize that they’re not getting that truth in the United States.
