MVA to hold Christmas candlelight parade

The Marianas Visitors Authority is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring the 1999 Children’s Christmas Candlelight Parade on Saturday, December 18, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m..  The parade will start at the Bank of Guam parking lot and will head north towards the American Memorial Park. All public and private elementary schools students ages 6 to 11 are welcome to participate.

Prize winning categories for this year’s event will include Best Costume, Best Singing, and Best Christmas Spirit. Also included in this year’s event will be a float competition.

Prizes for this year’s event are $1,000.00 for first place in the float competition, $800.00 for 2nd place and $700.00 for 3rd place. Other prizes are $500.00 for Best Costume, $500.00 for Best Christmas Spirit and $500.00 for Best Song. A prize of $600.00 will be given to a group that will accumulates the highest points in all three categories.

The overall winner will be required to participate in Christmas Caroling at hotels or at the Garapan Street Market upon the request by the Marianas Visitors Authority.

All registered participants are required to fill up parental consent forms which must be submitted to MVA office along with the school’s registration form.

Deadline for registration is Dec.. 1, 1999 and the deadline for the children’s parade is Dec. 3, 1999.
