Tinian Christmas festivities kick off Saturday
Tinian Mayor Francisco M. Borja, the Marianas Visitor’s Authority and the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino are sponsoring the Commonwealth’s first Christmas festivities in the island municipality on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999.
The events, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., will include a parade of over 13 decorated and lighted floats as well as a children’s candlelight march. Santa Claus will be present to give away gifts. Culminating Saturday’s event is the lighting of over 35 Christmas trees and fireworks.
Visitors are able to travel free of charge from Saipan to Tinian. Travel schedules from Saipan are 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The ferry leaves from Tinian at 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
The Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino will also be offering special room rates for only $40.00 per night. Hotel guests and restaurant clients will be given free ferry tickets to Saipan.
“This event should be the best Christmas festivity ever for Tinian. My staff has worked hard to ensure that all visitors who come to Tinian are in for a beautiful treat of Tinian Christmas Spirit. When we flip the switch to turn on those 35 trees, it should prove to be a beautiful site. Not to mention, the children will be able to see Santa Claus on Tinian,” Mr. Borja said.
