SHRM meeting to provide guide interview techniques
The Commonwealth’s chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the CNMI’s professional personnel organization, will be holding its monthly membership meeting this Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Marcia Schultz, chapter vice President and a partner at Carlsmith Ball, and Josephine Mesta, chapter secretary and director of Human Resources at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, will be the special guest speakers at this months meeting.
Ms. Schultz and Ms. Mesta will discuss both the human resource and legal issues involved in conducting employment interviews and what you may ask and not ask to ensure that your interviews are conducted in compliance with applicable federal laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
This is an excellent opportunity for CNMI SHRM members to ensure that their interview techniques comply with relevant laws. Non-members in the business community, whether owners, managers or human resource staff, are invited to learn more about the Society and improve their human resources knowledge through the presentation and discussion.
At this month’s meeting, members will vote on the Chapter’s officers for the upcoming year. All members are urged to attend this event.
Chapter membership meetings are not limited to members. Prospective members and companies or individuals interested in the discussion topic are invited to attend.
This week’s luncheon meeting will be held at the Giovanni’s Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 11:30 a.m. The cost for the luncheon is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members.
Members, and others interested in attending this luncheon discussion, should contact Rheta or Liz at the Hyatt Regency Human Resource Office, at telephone number 234-1234 or fax number 233-0182, to make reservations.
