SUVA, Fiji Islands—China has announced that it is favorably considering a Fiji request for assistance in reviving its rice industry and introducing state-of-the-art fisheries technology.

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said he supported the request during Beijing talks with visiting Fiji Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry last week.

He suggested a further meeting between officials from the two governments, to discuss details of the assistance required.
