USS Blue Ridge to visit Saipan
The flagship of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), is scheduled to make a four-day port visit to Saipan beginning Saturday, Jan. 15.
This is the first stop of the ship’s annual three-month “Southern Swing” deployment.
The ship is scheduled to moor to Pier Baker in Garapan Harbor in Saipan at 9:00 15.
While in port, sailors and marines will have an opportunity to sightsee, shop and enjoy the unique cultural excursions Saipan offers and to enhance the goodwill between the U.S. Navy and the people of the islands.
The last time USS Blue Ridge visited Saipan was in mid-April of last year. That visit was the ship’s last port visit during the annual deployment. In addition to Saipan, the ship is scheduled to visit ports in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
The ship will be open for public visiting Sunday and Monday, Jan. 16 and 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
USS Blue Ridge is the flagship for Vice Adm. Walter F. Doran, commander, United States Seventh Fleet. The ship, commanded by Capt. David Ziemba, is forward-deployed from Yokosuka, Japan, and has a crew of 900 officers, sailors and marines.
