Every year Hyatt Regency Saipan awards its outstanding employees with the coveted Employee of the Year Award. This award is given to two outstanding employees for their exceptional service and performance.
The 1999 Employee of the Year for front of the house is Ernesto Garcia, better known as Ernie. A native of the Philippines, Ernie is no stranger to Hyatt International Hotels. He has been with the company for many years beginning in March 1985, when he was employed with Hyatt Regency Baguio. He came to Saipan in July 1994 for two years, then returned home. He was asked to come to Saipan again in July 1997 and has been with Hyatt since. Ernie can be found in Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Splash Pool Bar or Skipper’s down on the beach where he happily services customers as a Bartender. He is an exceptional employee, always lending a hand and assisting customers with a big smile.
The 1999 Employee of the Year for back of the house is Abdul Hameed Hussain, also known as Hussain. He joined Hyatt Regency Saipan in January 1998 and comes from the country of Sri Lanka. He works diligently with Hyatt’s engineering division as an appliance repairman. He is responsible for kitchen and laundry equipment within the hotel. His pleasant disposition has certainly earned him the respect of his colleagues. His director, Mr. Jiffry, has said, “Hussain exhibits exemplary workmanship and is acknowledged by his managers and department heads. His selection is well-deserved.”
In addition to the Employee of the Year award, Hyatt Regency Saipan also presented an outstanding employee with a surprise award – The General Manager’s Award. The award was given to Miriam Pangilinan for her exceptional service, dedication and loyalty to the company. Miriam is from Hyatt Regency Baguio. Her career on Saipan began in October 1990. She is currently the Room Reservations manager.
