The Northern Mariana Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding its first Volunteer Registration and Recruitment on the island of Rota on Jan 23, 2000. This will allow the Red Cross to gain additional volunteers on the island of Rota and to update its records for those volunteers currently active with the chapter.

The event will be held at Guata Beach in Rota. Leadership volunteers from the island of Rota as well as Saipan will be on hand to answer questions about the American Red Cross and to provide any information that current or prospective volunteers would request. All new and experienced Red Cross volunteers on the island of Rota are asked to stop by Guata Beach between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm to register as a Red Cross volunteer.

All those interested in becoming a Red Cross volunteer are urged to come to Guata Beach and sign up. In the months following the Recruitment and Registration various orientation and training activities will be held for the volunteers who have registered.

“We are hoping that with this recruitment we will increase our visibility on the island of Rota and gain additional volunteers. The Northern Mariana Islands Chapter serves the islands of Rota, Tinian, Saipan and the Northern Islands. To ensure we are able to provide services to each of those communities it is important that we have volunteers on each island to assist”. said Executive Director Cassandra Ely.
