Saipan Little League will operate in 4 divisions
Little League, Senior League and Big League are very common names in the Little League Baseball program for many years. So far CNMI has won 1 Far-East both in the Little League Division and send them to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1993. CNMI won three straight Big League Far-East titles, 1997, 1998 and 1999 that sent them twice to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and 1999 to Tucson, Arizona.
The Seniors Division is yet to accomplish this feat, now with the newly chartered Junior League program, ages 13-14, an extension program, CNMI shows a strong squad as there are players from the Little League Division. Juniors are composed of 13-14 years old, while the Seniors are bracketed at 14-16. The 14 and 16 years old are the swing age. The Junior League can be operated with 13-14 or just 13 years old but the advantage on tournament play is that it requires 13-14 only. Senior League can be operated 14-16 or 15-16 in regular season play but in tournament play it requires 14-16. Big league can be operated 16-18 or 17-18 but at tournament play it should be 16-18. So that’s the advantage of the swing age of 14 and 16. It is the advantage of the Junior and Senior League Division and that the ages depend on the number of teams participating.
The Saipan Little League Baseball is tentatively set to operate its 2000 season last part of February. Roster, medical and waiver forms can be obtained from Far-East Region secretary Jackie B. San Nicolas.
