Sunrisers 83, Get Covered 72

Sunrisers defeated Get Covered 83-72 in the last game for the scheduled regular season of the BANMI Men’s Islandwide Basketball League.
Jawn Joyner pumped in 34 points, dished out one assist, blocked nine shots, grabbed six rebounds, and two steals. George Masga helped out Joyner with 14 points, nine rebounds, and a steal. Sunrisers’ never-say-die attitude paid off for coach Jack Tudela’s squad. It was a see-saw game in the early minutes of the game with both teams trading baskets.
John Acosta once again was the leading scorer for Get Covered with 26 points, one block shot, five rebounds, and five steals. Tim Wesley contributed 16 points, two block shots, seven rebounds, and two steals in a losing cause.
Play-offs starts next Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, with Saipan Stars playing against Ol’Aces scheduled at 7:00 p.m., followed by Len’s against Diamond Auto Care.
Meanwhile, BANMI teach coaches and representatives are reminded of the meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11, 5:30 p.m. at Ada Conference Room.
