A couple of the top teams in the Miller Four Person Beach Volleyball League stayed undefeated on Thursday night. Both G-Money & Crew and Fresh Spring Rolls won all three sets of their matches.

Fresh Spring Rolls took down the MHS Dolphins in three sets, (11-1, 11-2, 11-2). The Bangkok Bomber, Nan Intharaluk, was benched for the first set for showing up late. So, serve specialist Dan Daughtry took control. Daughtry served for every one of FSR’s points in the first set. Intharaluk received a rude greeting in the second set. Eizel Mafnas put a monster block on the Bomber, but it only seemed to serve as a wake up call. He went on to lead the team in kills the next two sets.

In the second game G-Money & Crew had a small melt down in the second set. Captain Blaine Rogers choked several hits midway through and allowed the Misfits to slip back into the game. Tim Mills served the game to tie a 10-10, only to see his efforts slip away.
G-Money herself, Wendi Herring, put it away with a deadly cut shot three plays later. The next set was the second shutout of league play. Last week the Misfits were also shutout in their third set.

They will have the bye next week and a chance to work on some strategy.

There was a buzz in the air about the third game of the night. It looked to be a great match on paper. The Hot 98sters were coming off a big win over Len’s Junk the week before. While Managaha had Suffered a tough loss to Fresh Spring Rolls in the first week. Mike Walsh of the Hot 98sters led the charge in the first victory, but was nowhere to be found for this week’s game. It could have made the difference. More likely, Managaha was just too much too handle this week. Led by some great serves from Jazz Rosokow, they won the first two sets and the, match, (11-6, 11-6, 9-11), Nick Eliesar came up with some very big hits in the clutch in the first two sets, and Will “Bamboo” McCue continued to be a force at the net with some big blocks.

Next week highlights some great games. No Fear returns from their bye week to face the Dolphins. Coffee Care, who had a bye the first week and a forfeit this week, will meet up with a very hungry Hot98sters. Managaha will see if they can stay on fire when they play Len’s Junk. Either G-Money & Crew or Fresh Spring Rolls will know what it feels like to lose.
