Businesses donate to NMC
On Monday, April 17th, 2000, Jim Davies, president of The New Stone Age Corporation, donated $404.17 to Northern Marianas College.
The New Stone Age Corporation is a wholesale distributor of souvenirs and gift items. Mr. Davies and his sales manager, Gigi Suarez, presented the donation.
Mr. Davies, also the GM of New Shintani Corporation which operates a quarry and cement block manufacturing facility on Rota, donated $2,028.93 on behalf of Hiyoshige Shintani to Northern Marianas College. Mr. Shintani is the owner of the New Shintani Corporation.
The generous companies above are taking advantage of the Education Tax Credit Program.
Northern Marianas College accepted the donations with deep appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Shintani, Mr. Davies and Ms. Suarez.
The CNMI Legislature recently created a public law that provides a tax credit for cash contributions donated by individuals and business establishments to educational institutions such as Northern Marianas College.
