Ol’Aces 60, Get Covered Surf 54

Ol’Aces kept pace with defending champ Phenoms, but barely escaped its first defeat by beating a determined Get Covered Surf team.
Led by Peter Mendiola with 19 points and 11 rebounds, GCS came back from a 4-point halftime deficit, 24-20, to take a five-point lead over the Ol’Aces, with 5:28 left in the game.
However, costly turnovers in the closing seconds led to Get Covered Surf’s second straight defeat. Nathan Sablan also contributed 9 points, 10 rebounds and a game high 7 steals.
For the Ol’Aces, Carlos Agoun and Mike Olaitiman each contributed 18 and 15 points, respectively, while Shane Ogumoro chipped in with season high rebounds of 14 and blocked shots at 4.
Dare 53, CK Raptors 52
Wednesday, Aug. 9
Dare got it’s first victory of the season defeating the CK Raptors 53-52. CK was seemingly on its way to second victory of the season leading by as much as 14 points when Dare, led by Ralph Mettao’s 19 points quickly turned the tide against the Raptors.
For the Raptors, Chris G. scored 18 points and dished out 3 assists.
PCB Warriors 101, Saints 42
Tuesday, Aug. 8
The Warriors took sole possession of third place by demolishing the Saints 101-42.
Speedster Ed Arriola again led the Warriors in scoring for the 7th straight game, pumping in a game high 31 points. Richard Siedler also contributed with 22 points and 12 rebounds. With the win, the Warriors move to 6-1, while the loss kept the Saints at 0-5.
Phenoms 94, Surf Turf 57
Monday, Aug. 7
Two-time scoring champion and MVP Freddy Pelisiman pumped in 34 points to lead Phenoms to it’s 7th straight victory courtesy of Surf Turf.
Jesse Manibusan also chipped in 25 points and 15 rebounds. For Surf Turf, Brian Torres, T.J. Aldan and Ernesto Villarin led the way with 15, 13 and 12 points, respectively.
PCB Warriors 72, Surf Turf 52
Friday, Aug. 4
After a narrow 27-24 halftime lead, the Warriors outscored Surf Turf 45-28 to break open a close game.
The Warriors were led by Ed Arriola with 27 points, while J-Boy DLGuerrero chipped in 13 points.
For Surf Turf, T.J. Aldan led the way with 24 points and 6 rebounds.
Get Covered Surf 58, Sixers 59
Ben and John Sablan led the Sixers to a thrilling 59-58 victory over Get Covered Surf, scoring 18 and 13 points, respectively.
GCS led most of the way and in fact when the buzzer sounded, GCS thought they had won the game, but an error by the timekeeper nullified the basket and the Sixers won.
Apparently, with .02 left in the game, a GCS player missed a free throw and a mad scramble for loose ball went for several seconds before the ball was put in the basket by a GCS player.
However, the officials ruled that had the clock started on time the game should have been over way before the basket. With the loss, GCS dropped to 2-3 while the Sixers moved to 4-2.
Ol’Aces 87, GTE 43
Wednesday, Aug. 2
Mike Olaitiman led a balanced Ol’Aces attack with 14 points to remain undefeated at 6-0. GTE were led by B.J. Tagabuel’s 20 points and Charles Rupurei’s 12 rebounds.
Phenoms 118, Sixers II 30
Tuesday Aug. 1
Freddy Pelisiman had scoring 30 points to lead the Phenoms in crushing the San Antonio Sixers II 118-30.
Brother Jacob Pelisiman helped in with 19 points, while Charleston Aiken chipped in with season highs of 18 points and 8 rebounds. For the Sixers II, Nick Ranas had 12 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Sixers.
