The island of Rota, ordinarily known for its serenity and calmness, has been transformed to a high-energy and action-packed island paradise.

Rota Mayor Benjamin T. Manglona has extended an open invitation to neighboring island communities to join in the festivities in honor of the island’s patron saint beginning October 6 to October 8.

According to Mr. Manglona, various committees and members of the community have been working diligently to provide for an impressive experience for all who participate in the celebration.

Bisita Luta 2000 Committee Chairman Efrain Atalig said that his committee has earnestly planned and prepared to present residents and visitors an exceptional time.

With friendly competitions, a night market and appetizing food on the itinerary, residents and visitors will undoubtedly have much to do and see, local officials vowed.

According to Mr. Atalig, campgrounds have been cleared for the more adventurous travelers. Liyo Park, adjacent to the boat marina and within walking distance to Songsong is available for people to pitch their tents.

Chairman of Protocol and Media Ike Mendiola said a bus shuttle from the airport to Songsong village, hotels, and campsite will be available. He added the bus schedule is available at the Bisita Luta 2000 Committee hospitality desk at the Rota International Airport.

Mayor Manglona said this major Rota event would not be possible without the cooperative effort by the community and off-island friends who have contributed generously and joyously with food, money, gifts and other volunteer services.
